ah! my friend has been trying to convince me that big screen displays are so crisp now that they'd be comparable to a window. I've been skeptical, and it just occurred to me what I'm worried about — while watching Fringe, which was showing a display used as a virtual window — and that is "depth perception". When I look out the window of a tall building, it is not just that I can see a long ways, but my brain perceives a large depth of field. I wonder if I would get the same feeling of depth looking at an extremely high resolution big-screen tv showing such a scene.
