thinking both ways

I've heard that smiling makes you happy, and nodding causes you to believe what you're hearing. This suggests that the brain is like an electric motor, capable of converting thought into facial expressions, but also capable of converting facial expressions back into thought. This paints the notion of "fake it 'till you make it" in a new light for me.
