voting and democracy

Here are a couple standard answers to a couple standard questions that seem off to me:

What is your take on voting?

Well, both candidates are bad, so we should vote for the "lesser of two evils."

What is your take on democracy?

Well, it's bad, but to quote Winston Churchill: "..democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms.."

I feel like culturally, we're unwilling to consider innovation in this space. In fact, I feel like many people perceive it as dangerous, like revolutions are dangerous.
